West Side Theater at

285 West Side Avenue

 

West Side Theater is on the northwest corner of the NJCU Campus and is reachable by driving and by public transportation.  Please see below for directions, fares and information.  

 

Complimentary Parking: During Fall 2011, patrons may use Lot #3 (enter at the intersection of West Side Avenue and Audubon Avenue) located one half block south of the West Side Theater.  Parking tickets can be validated at the box office.  Please Note: Tickets cannot be validated after intermission and are valid only for the date of the show.  

Handicapped parking is available behind the theater (enter Carbon Place from West Side Avenue and make the first turn into the handicapped lot).    

 

Due to construction of the new West Campus, there are parking changes in effect. 

 

DRIVING DIRECTIONS:

From New York City (Holland Tunnel)  
After exiting the Holland Tunnel, go straight up the hill. Maneuver into the center lanes (an exit for the turnpike will be on the right, followed by an exit for Routes 1 & 9 on your left). Continue approximately 1 mile and turn left onto Kennedy Boulevard. Continue 2.5 miles on Kennedy Boulevard and make a right onto Audubon Avenue (just past the NJCU campus).  Parking lot #3A is at the bottom of the hill where Audubon intersects with West Side Avenue. 
 
From N.J. Turnpike  
 
Take Route 280 East, Route 80 East, or Route 3 East to the N.J. Turnpike. Exit the Turnpike at 15E. Follow signs to Routes 1 & 9 North (Truck Route). Cross over two bridges to a traffic light at the intersection of Route 440. Stay straight at the light. After the McDonald’s (on the right) go to the second traffic light and turn right onto Kennedy Boulevard. Continue twelve blocks and make a right onto Audubon Avenue (just past the NJCU campus). Parking lot #3A is at the bottom of the hill where Audubon intersects with West Side Avenue. 
 
From Routes 78, 1 & 9  
 
Take Route 78 East to Routes 1 & 9 North. Routes 1 & 9 will split. Stay to the right (1 & 9 North Truck Route). Do not go to the Pulaski Skyway. Take 1 & 9 over two bridges and stay straight at the traffic light (intersection of Route 440). After the McDonald’s (on the right) go to the second traffic light and turn right onto Kennedy Boulevard. Continue twelve blocks and make a right onto Audubon Avenue (just past the NJCU campus). Parking lot #3A is at the bottom of the hill where Audubon intersects with West Side Avenue. 
 
From Garden State Parkway (Northbound)  
 
Take the GSP North to Exit 140, Route 22 East. Take 22 East to Routes 1 & 9 North. Routes 1 & 9 will split. Stay to the right (1 & 9 North Truck Route). Do not go to the Pulaski Skyway. Take 1 & 9 over two bridges and stay straight at the traffic light (intersection of Route 440). After the McDonald’s (on the right) go to the second traffic light and turn right onto Kennedy Boulevard. Continue twelve blocks and make a right onto Audubon Avenue (just past the NJCU campus). Parking lot #3A is at the bottom of the hill where Audubon intersects with West Side Avenue.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION:

For directions from a specific location, use HopStop and add your starting location.  You can select rail, bus, walking, taxi or rental car options. 

From NYC (PATH and Light Rail):

Take the Journal Square bound PATH train from 33rd Street to Pavonia-Newport OR take any PATH train from World Trade Center to Exchange Place.  Follow the signs for the Hudson Bergen Light Rail and take the West Side Avenue bound train to West Side Avenue.  Walk down the steps onto West Side Avenue, make a left, and walk 4 short blocks to 285 West Side Avenue (on the right). 

From NYC (Bus):

From the Port Authority, take the Red and Tan Coach bus #99S to the corner of Culver Avenue and West Side Avenue.  Click here for schedules.

PATH Trains: $2.00 per ride (Metrocard or Smartlink can be used)

Light Rail Tickets: $2.10 each (purchase and validate on Light Rail platforms)
