Public Transportation to the West Side Theatre

From World Trade Center:
Take the Hoboken or Newark PATH train to Exchange Place. Transfer to the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail (handicapped accessible). Take the West Side Avenue Light Rail to its final stop at West Side Avenue. Walk down the stairs and turn left onto West Side Avenue. Walk two blocks (past the Miss America Diner on the left) and cross to the right side of West Side Avenue. The West Side Theatre is #285 and is housed in NJCU’s Business Development Incubator. This trip takes between 75 and 90 minutes, less time during rush hours.

Bus from Port Authority:
Take the No. 99S bus from Port Authority. The fare is $4.00 (pay on bus with exact change, rate as of September 2009). Leave the bus in front of the New Jersey City University main campus, at the corner of John F. Kennedy Blvd. and Culver Avenue. and it take about 30-40 minutes (depending on traffic). To get to the Westside theatre from the bus stop, turn left onto Culver Avenue, walk to West Side avenue, turn left again and walk two blocks. The theatre is on the far side of the street. This trip takes between 30 and 45 minutes, more time during rush hours.

PATH Train + NJ Transit Bus:
Take the Journal Square PATH Train to Journal Square. Transfer to the #80 Bus (heading toward to Gates) to West Side Avenue. Get off at either Culver Avenue or Audubon Avenue. The fare is $1.35 (as of September 2009). The West Side Theatre is #285 West Side Avenue and is housed in NJCU’s Business Development Incubator. This trip takes between 20 and 35 minutes, more time during rush hours.

Driving Directions to the Westside Theater:

1. Take the New Jersey Turnpike to Exit 15E.
2. Use the toll booths furthest to the right.
3. Follow the signs for “Rte. 1 & 9” to Jersey City (it is also called Rte. 440 to Bayonne).
4. Remain in the right lane. After several bridges and traffic lights, take the right hand exit for Rte. 440 (the exit is a large sweeping curve as you approach the traffic light).
5. Remain in the right lane.
6. Make a right at the sign for West Side Transit Train/Culver Avenue (the exit lane will make a sharp curve).
7. Continue straight on Culver Avenue two blocks.
8. Turn right onto West Side Avenue (the Miss America Diner will be across the street).
9. The West Side Theatre is #285 West Side Avenue and is housed in NJCU’s Business Development Incubator.
10. Parking is one block past the theatre in NJCU Lot #3A at the corner of West Side Avenue and Audubon Avenue. Weekday and evening parking is $6.00. Parking on Saturday (all day) is $4.00. Parking is free on Sundays.
